Rumors of this magazine coming to our newsstands gave me butterflies, I couldn’t wait to see what the genius minds of Net-A-Porter and Mr. Porter would come out with.
Well, the online luxury retailer Net-a-Porter which publishes a weekly web-only magazine called The Edit officially launched on newsstands on Feb. 7, scored supermodel Gisele Bündchen as its first cover star.
The Mag plans to run six issues per year. Auto-renew subscriptions are available for $48 a year — certainly more pricey than Vogue and Harper’s Bazaar, the former of which can be picked up for just $6 a year on Amazon.
With Editor in Chief Lucy Yeomans (formerly of Harper’s Bazaar UK) at the helm, Porter‘s debut contains editorials featuring Uma Thurman and Julianne Moore, boasts an interview with Lanvin designer Alber Elbaz, and work by top photographers like Inez and Vinoodh and Camilla Åkrans.
The glossy is an interesting move for Net-a-Porter, which has emerged as a leader in the content-meets-e-commerce space and also has developed its own online advertising business. The fashion spreads will of course include pieces that are stocked on the site, but with the help of a forthcoming digital edition, a mobile app and a phone-in concierge service, the retailer made sure that the magazine is more easily shoppable than your average fashion mag.
Well considering I love Net-A-Porter And Mr.Porter so much I thought that I would LOVE the mag. I don’t. Didn’t like the layout and honestly the contents of The Edit is much better.
