When Heidi Klum wears one of Thomas Wylde’s body-con skull dresses, or LiLo tosses on a skull-print scarf or Ashlee Simpson carries a studded leather tote, they get them from a stylist.
But now mere mortals can get in on the brand’s hot threads.
The first ever Thomas Wylde shop has just opened in Culver City. Although getting there is like finding a secret nightclub, since it’s unmarked and situated unceremoniously next to a tile outlet. Look for massive skull-shaped planters flanking a door, and that’s your entry to the soaring, travertine-lined loft hung with shiny silks and leathers.
Clothes are dearly priced–a silk dress might cost a few thousand and a floaty chiffon top in the high hundreds. Indeed, browsing the boutique feels like shopping for fine art, not clothing. The room is vast and hushed, with helpful sales assistants giving you space to contemplate the spring collection’s hot-pink silk tops and Grecian draped evening gowns. The shop and clothes are so exquisite, it’s worth a trip even if you’re not buying anything.
As when collecting art, we’re ready to buy what we love at Thomas Wylde.
